Hot pepper sauces
If
you are a lover of hot pepper sauces, you already know that the sauce
can do a number of things to your body. For example, for some people,
they can get indigestion, while others get a hot sauce high.
But, the question arises concerning the amount of damage these sauces
can do to a person’s system. Although for many it may seem like
their body is reacting adversely to this food, the fact is that these
foods are hardly dangerous at all.
As a mater of fact, the “heat” that a person feels when
eating these sauces is not a real heat in terms of how the heat reacts
in your mouth (it does not create any permanent damage). The heat is
actually a neurological reaction that is quite harmless.
One of the easiest ways to determine how hot a hot pepper sauce will
be is to simply look at the order of the ingredients on the bottle.
If the first ingredient listed is water, then you know that the sauce
is going to be extremely watered down and will not be very hot at all.
On the other hand, if the first ingredient listed is something like
“cayenne pepper” or “jalapeno” then you should
be sure to have a cold drink next to you before taking your first bite
of whatever it is you are eating with the hot pepper sauces.
