Cholula hot sauce
The
Cholula hot sauce is a brand of sauce that is easily recognizable thanks
to its wooden cap. It is manufactured in Mexico, but is easily found
in other places around the world -- particularly in the United States.
The oldest city in Mexico that is still inhabited is named Cholula
and this sauce is named in honor of that city. The sauce itself is a
blend of pequin peppers, red peppers and spices. This sauce is far from
the hottest on the market. It is mostly used to add flavor more than
it is used to simply be a hot substance that people can put on their
food.
According to the Scoville Heat Scale, which is a scale that measures
the hotness of chili peppers or anything else that comes from chili
peppers (hot sauce, for example). The test has been around for nearly
100 years. Wilbur Scoville developed this test in 1912.
According to this heat scale, Cholula Hot Sauce measures at a score
of 3,600. This is about the same level that a jalapeno pepper scores
in the scale.
Because it is a mild sauce, Cholula Hot sauce can be used as both a
condiment as well as a sauce.
Cholula Hot Sauce is fairly easy to find and if you are cooking for
a large group of people with diverse taste buds, using this sauce may
be a good idea.
